Allotment piccys

Heya,

We went down the allotment today and took some piccys, its all a bit bare at the moment ready for onions and garlic next weekend! Hehe! Today we just did some weeding and filled the newly made raised bed with some soil (that has been rested for a while). It looks a bit of a mess at the moment but we are working on that. The greenhouse is finished to the point that it now retains heat rather than leaking it.

 The greenhouse finished!

Inside the fruit cage, weeded and ready to be planted.

 Matt clearing up the weeds

The first of the raised beds, covered to try and discourage the weeds.

After we went down to the allotment we decided to cook california rolls, Yummy!

Its been so fun having allotment, it strange that we won't have it this time next year. I look forward to seeing how it will change when its just Chris's. Its been brilliant being able to grow some of our vege. Anyway it getting late so bye for now x x x

WWOOFing dates and locations!

Hi,

Well we have now got all our dates booked for WWOOFing, this is how the plan looks so far:

  • 9th - 23rd of July we will be at Coombe Barton Farm (Cornwall).
  • 23rd - 30th of July we shall be possibly staying for another week at Coombe Barton (but I haven't booked this as yet!) we were headed to Shropshire but money has meant we had to rethink it for now.
  • 30th July -13th August we will be at Dyffryn Isaf (South Wales).
  • 13th August -27th August we will be at Rhyd-y-gwin (South Wales).
  • 27th August - 3rd of September We have BOOKED OFF (as we will have been away for a while and might need a break.
  • 3rd - 17th September we will be at North Harton Farm (Devon).
  • 17th September - 1st October we will be back in South Wales at Gerallt.
  • 1st - 17th October we are leaving clear in case we can go back to some of these places we enjoyed earlier in the year!
  • 17th October - 23rd we will be back in Devon at Silver springs.
  • 23rd -30th October we may be staying another week at Silver Springs if all goes well in the first week.
  • 30 October - 7th November TAKING OFF to chill out for a bit.
  • 7th November - 2 December continuing with a month stay at Trill Farm although the first 2 week will be a trial basis for the next two weeks.
  • 2nd December - 16th December Not sure but possibly returning to another place we have already been?
So, there we have it, we are pretty much booked from now until Christmas. We are so excited and are trying really hard to remember, we both have things to do in the 6 months before we leave. We went down to the allotment today and tomorrow we plan to take some pictures of how its going (its a bit bare at the moment but we are preparing for the spring). There are some differences though, the green house is up and running. We had quite few panes missing, so Matt has replaced the missing panes with old out of date 'for sale' signs (on the North side) that Chris got off a guy from Rugby. Chris and Matt have also started making the raised beds. They've got one done already, we are going to have to plan what to go in it.

Anyway tomorrow we'll get the pictures up,

Wow!

We have had a tremendous response to our letters! Thank you peoples! We have had some lovely letters and emails from many places. It certainly made picking places difficult as they all sounded so brilliant. We have now booked ourselves up from now from 9th of July until the beginning of December. We have picked 7 different places most of which are in Wales (which we weren't expecting hehe!). We are very excited and cannot wait to get started. We just have to finish our various current endeavours and we are away. However, we shall keep everyone updated here on the blog during our countdown to WWOOFing. But for now byeeeee x x x

2010 Allotment efforts

Hiya,
I just wanted to put up some piccys of our allotment from 2010.

This is fruit cage/pottager garden

This is one of the very productive courgette plants we muct have had over 20 courgettes/marrows hehe from only 2 plants.

This is the rhubarb patch more plants survived than we thought so its a bit crowded.

The aubergines, they were very thirsty.

The potatoes

The fruit cage from outside, we have deer, rabbits and pigeons that regularly try to eat anything we put on the allotment so this is our defense strategy.

First blog entry! Yay!

Hello,

This is our first blog entry hehe, we shall continue blogging to keep everyone updated with our wwoofing adventure, we plan to go wwoofing around the UK. This will enable us to explore our native Island, especially with a view to where we might want to live in the future. We would also like to try our hand at new skills and learning new techiniques, that we can one day use in our own home. Other than that we would really like to have a nice year out from normal humdrum life. So we will keep you updated as we go.

So far we have sent letters out to lots of local WWOOFing hosts and just waiting for replies, very exciting we shall keep you updated, but for now byeeeee x x x
